Welcome to Vivashima, the second planet in my galaxy. This is the place where I mention many of the things that rock my world. There's a little about music, a little about art, and a bit more about life as a transgendered person in the 21st century. To me, life is all about creating. I love to create and I delight in the creations of others.
I am in love with popular culture imagery from the past fifty years. Eye candy rocks me. From collectible postcards to Christmas lights, my soul thrives on visual stimulation. Some of my favourite artists are Miro, Rothko, Pollock, Parrish and Basquiat, among others. I also dig many graphic artists, from Peter Saville and Josef Mueller-Brockmann to the artist/director Mike Mills (Air). I feel the same way about music, and my tastes there vary just as widely. I love all types of music from all over the world... everything from Beny More to Bob Marley to Francoise Hardy and Cesario Evora. Some of my favourite music is from Air, The Cocteau Twins, Magnetic Fields, Belle & Sebastian, Flaming Lips, Bowie, Suede, ABBA, Royksopp, Alpha, Queen and DJ 187 to name a few. You will often find me on the dancefloor when a serious latin salsa set is played. I love both music and imagery for their abilities to compel the heart, transport the mind and move emotions. The experience that these forms of art can provide are among the world's most spectacular blessings. Without creativity and creative release, I'm not sure that I could exist, as I thrive on absorbing everything that I can.

I enjoy great conversation and sharing ideas. I am traditional in some ways and a renegade in many others. I have spent a lot of time working in the fields of music, popular and undergound culture. Creativity for me is a study of a particular awareness. This awareness is constantly changing. As artists, we are simply vessels. Everything that we can imagine and everything we can create already exists. We simply bring things into being on this plane. Mozart once said that he never wrote music note by note. Rather, in an instant, he glimpsed entire symphonies. My journey through life has been dedicated to cultivating a certain awareness, an awareness of the 99% realm that we cannot see, yet exists in dimensions that are not illusary, such as the one in which we live. If you know what I'm talking about, I suggest reading The Highly Sensitive Person by Elaine Aaron. Sensitivity is a gift, and the tools Elaine presents, based on her research, can help you to cultivate this awareness which resides in all of us. Your life is the greatest instrument you will ever play. Use your ability to create and your desires to become who you want to be.
My taste in film tends to fall in the independent arena. I also enjoy micro-cinema. Some of my favourite indie films are: boogie nights, magnolia, amelie, big lebowski, drugstore cowboy, basquiat, hedwig, buffalo 66, pecker, hairspray, the kid stays in the picture, kissing jessica stein, leon: the professional, virgin suicides, motorcycle diaries, requiem for a dream, paper moon, goodfellas, after hours, the red balloon, american beauty, casino, purple noon, the owl & the pussycat, symbropsychotaxiplasm, sweet & lowdown and citzen kane, at least those are the ones that most often come to mind. I love Bollywood films for their vivid colour, amazing soundtracks and outstanding choreography. I try to catch the Hindi Movie on IC whenever I can.
